I was asked the other day how Alimenti helps food and drink producers grow. After I had thought about it for a little, I decided to keep a log of how Alimenti’s clients are supported for couple of weeks.
I spent a week working in a distribution depot. I was approving products of animal origin for export and checking loads for distribution were correctly picked. I qualified to do this by taking an exam and training for CSO (Certification Support Officer). I qualified in April 2023, and will have to retake the exam every 4 years to remain qualified.
A group of supervisors and managers were trained over 2 days in level 3 HACCP for a Highfield qualification. They all passed and 80% got a distinction.
I attended an exhibition at the NEC near Birmingham, meeting a client. The client is moving and updating their equipment and premises, We reviewed some potential equipment suppliers and found new ones.
I attended the IFST annual conference in Cardiff to update my knowledge, which will help my clients, and see some colleagues. Double bonus!!
I chaired a HACCP review for a site with a HACCP plan that needed updating.
One day was changed when the agent for a new site was ill. I was turned around 1 hour into the drive to Leeds, as the site could no longer be accessed. The plan was to visit a potential new site and review it from a technical perspective. My client wants to achieve BRCGS Food certification, so it is important that the whole site, including the surroundings are compliant.
Two days were filled with admin tasks, such as book keeping and marketing. I was in touch with my local authority confirming our programme of meetings for the next year, I have also been in contact with clients, answering their questions I also sent them updates in certifications that they are interested in achieving, such as BRCGS, ISO 22 000 and SALSA. Over the two days I also had a call with a vet about exporting to China, and what is needed in terms of pork export.
Two further days I was preparing for and attending HACCP reviews on site as well as writing up the minutes, This finished off the fortnight
